About Us
Solitaire Grove is an independent project building free online solitaire games that run fast in your browser. Every game on this site is developed in-house, runs entirely in your browser, and requires no download, no account, and no payment.
What we make
We build classic solitaire variants and the guides that go with them. Twelve games are live today: Klondike in Draw 1 and Draw 3 form, FreeCell, Spider in one-suit, two-suit and four-suit versions, Pyramid, TriPeaks, Golf, Yukon, Scorpion and Spiderette. Each game page carries a complete guide - how to play, the full rule set, strategy tips and answers to the questions players ask most.
Alongside the games we publish short guides on solitaire rules, terminology, win-rate maths and strategy. They are written to be read in about five minutes and to be useful whether you have played for years or have never dealt a hand.
How the games are built
Every game is written by hand in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no game engine, no framework and no tracking library. That is deliberate: it keeps a page small enough to load in well under a second, it means the games run on a ten-year-old laptop as happily as on a new phone, and it lets us test each rule set properly before it ships.
We check the rules of every variant against published sources before we implement them, and each game is covered by an automated test page that plays through the rule set - checking what may be stacked, what may move as a group, and what happens in edge cases - so that a change to one game cannot quietly break another.
Independence, trademarks and original artwork
Solitaire Grove is an independent website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation, and we have no relationship with any other solitaire game, app or publisher. Microsoft, Windows and Microsoft Solitaire Collection are trademarks of their respective owners and appear on this site only as factual references - for example, when describing which release of Windows first shipped a solitaire game.
Every playing card on this site is drawn by us. The card faces, card backs, suit symbols and court figures are original artwork generated as scalable vector graphics by our own code. We do not use licensed card artwork, stock photography, downloaded web fonts or third-party game assets anywhere on the site, and every word of rules, strategy and history is written in-house.
The games themselves are traditional patience and solitaire rules that have been played for more than two centuries. Rules and mechanics are not protected by copyright, so anyone is free to implement them - which is exactly what we did, in our own code and our own words.
Our promise
- No pop-ups, no forced sign-ups and no paywall. Every game and guide is free.
- No account is needed to play, and we do not ask for an email address.
- Games load in seconds on desktop, tablet and phone, from 320 pixels wide upward.
- Every game has unlimited undo and a hint button, because getting stuck should not mean starting over.
If something breaks, or you have a suggestion for a variant we should build next, we would genuinely like to hear from you - see the contact page.
